SmartEtailing lays off three following merger

Published June 20, 2016

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — SmartEtailing, which recently merged with Harvest Retail Marketing, has laid off three workers at its Boulder headquarters, company president Ryan Atkinson told BRAIN on Monday.

Atkinson said the layoffs reflect the priorities of the merging company and are not a result of financial troubles.

"These changes are firmly in the restructuring category. From a financial standpoint we are doing really well, and as we expand our marketing services I expect we'll be hiring again over the next six months, just not for these particular positions," Atkinson said.

SmartEtailing's focus is now on reinvesting in its core platform, which provides e-commerce websites for retailers, and on expanding its marketing support services for retailers.

The staffers let go were Jim Langley, a former Bicycling magazine tech editor who had been at SmartEtailing for 15 years; Dorothy Nichols, an industry veteran who has worked for Todson, Shebeest and Accell NA; and Terrie Taziri, who was SmartEtailing's director of marketing.

Between them, SmartEtailing and Harvest Retail Marketing now have 52 employees. The merger will be finalized this fall.
