Trek tells retailers of immediate price increases

Published April 17, 2025

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Trek and Electra retailers were informed Thursday by email that bike prices for most models will rise immediately because of the 10% tariff surcharge announced April 2, increasing costs "to a level that needs to be addressed."

According to the email, Trek Bicycle has "strategically worked to minimize the impact on key entry-level models." Similar to past Trek price increases, the email said, the changes will include all backorders.

"We do this to avoid a 'run on the bank' with our inventory and to be equitable to all retailers," according to the email. "As with any price increase, there are positives for you. The value of your current inventory has just gone up, and moving forward, you will experience an increase in your GP dollars for bikes sold."

On April 9, Specialized Bicycles informed its retailers that it is listing the 10% tariff surcharge on a separate line item on B2B invoices after May 1.
