Specialized retail stores to offer chain waxing in Silca partnership

Published March 4, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — All stores owned by Specialized are now offering chain-waxing services in a partnership with Silca, the companies announced this week.

The stores are “official Silca Chain Wax Service Centers,” said Josh Poertner, the founder and CEO of Silca.

“We think it represents a huge step forward for both us and Specialized, and also points to what we see as a global trend of shops adopting wax as a service,” Poertner told BRAIN. “We currently have more than 300 wax centers worldwide and shops tell us that it's a great way to make revenue, get customers into the shops more regularly, and that's before you get to the whole performance aspect of the product, not to mention the environmental benefits.

The Specialized retailers will be equipped with Silca’s chain cleaning and waxing systems including its Silca Secret Chain Blend wax.

"Partnering with Silca aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing our customers with the highest quality products and services,” said Chris Rosser, the director of merchandising at Specialized.

“Waxed chains extend the lifespan of drivetrain components and require less frequent cleaning and maintenance. For cyclists, this means more time spent riding and less time worrying about upkeep,” Rosser said.
