AMain, owner of Performance and Nashbar, buys BMX e-commerce site Dan's Comp

CHICO, Calif. (BRAIN) — AMain.com, Inc, which bought the e-commerce business of Performance and Nashbar last year from a bankruptcy auction, has now acquired the domain and trademarks of Danscomp.com, said to be the world's largest BMX retailer.

AMain bought the assets from XP Innovations LLC, who has owned and operated Dan's Comp since 2005.

Amain said it would soon be offering key freestyle brands and is preparing to bring back the BMX race product category before the 2020 race season.

According to a statement from AMain, XP Innovations had multiple orders for the Dan's Comp business and chose Amain in part because the company has a passion for BMX. AMain supports a national level BMX race team, as well as a local team. It also was instrumental in building a pump track in its hometown of Chico.

"BMX is a sport our employees and their families have been participating in for a very long time. The Dan's Comp brand is respected and well known all over the world and we're excited to continue serving this segment of the industry," said Kendall Bennett, AMain's CEO.

The company said it would be transferring inventory from Dan's warehouse in Indiana.

When Western Power Sports stopped distributing BMX products earlier this year, AMain acquired its remaining BMX inventory, which included products from Box, Supercross, Tangent and other BMX brands. That inventory will now be available through Dan's and AMain expects to continue buying inventory directly from those brands after the WPS inventory is depleted.

All current customers of Dan's will be enrolled through 2020 as Platinum members in AMain's VIP program. Customer who had unfulfilled orders as of Oct. 5 will be issued store credit to be used on any of AMain's family of sites or in one of their retail locations.

Besides Performance, Nashbar, and Dan's, AMain's also operates AMAIN.com and runs two brick and mortar stores and a radio control race facility in Chico.

"With the addition of Dan's Comp, AMain becomes one of the most diverse and exciting bike retailers in U.S. and hopes that their success can elevate radio control and cycling by giving back to the communities who support them," the company said.
