CLEVELAND, OH (BRAIN) Friday July 6 2012 2:41 PM MT—Raleigh Bicycles, Century Cycles and Bike Cleveland are teaming up this summer and asking cyclists in Northeast Ohio to share their riding stories in the My Reason to Ride Cleveland Video Contest.
Through Aug. 15, cyclists can submit a video to Raleigh Bicycles’ My Reason to Ride website [www.myreasonstoride.com] for a chance to win a new Raleigh Cadent i8 valued at $739.99 from local shop Century Cycles. Raising the stakes, Raleigh Bicycles and Century Cycles will also make a $5,000 donation to local bicycle advocacy group Bike Cleveland if 50 people submit videos by Aug. 15.
“Raleigh wants to collect as many stories as we can to show the joy and diversity of bicycling, and we are eager to help on a local level,” said Chris Speyer, vice president of Raleigh Bicycles in Kent, Washington. “This video contest is a way to do both.”
The steps to submit a video are simple. Contestants can record a simple digital video using that shows their passion and reason for riding, create an account on the My Reason to Ride website, upload the video, and tag it “Bike Cleveland” when asked for “Group/Cause/Ride” on the submission form.
“Every day in our stores, we hear inspiring stories from our customers about how bicycling has transformed their lives,” said Scott Cowan, owner of Century Cycles in Rocky River, Medina and Peninsula, Ohio. “Some have lost dramatic amounts of weight, or reconnected with family or achieved something they never thought they could.”
Raleigh Bicycles will review all submissions and award the most compelling video the Raleigh Cadent i8, an 8-speed internal gear bike for commuting or touring.
Northeast Ohio bicyclists without access to digital cameras, computers or email accounts can videotape and submit their stories at Bike Cleveland and Century Cycles events throughout the summer. A complete event listing is available at bikecleveland.org.
