DALLAS, TX (BRAIN)—Bicycle Retailer & Industry News editors and sponsors will hit the “Big D” today, kicking off a three-day tour of bike shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
BRAIN staff and sponsors Advanced Sports, Inc. and Fallbrook Technologies, maker of the NuVinci drivetrain, will get on bikes to personally visit a dozen retailers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this week. Editors will talk with storeowners about the local cycling market, the state of retail, and how they are managing in today’s uncertain retail sales environment.
“The BRAIN Dealer Tour presented a unique opportunity for us to spend quality face-to-face time with the single most connected element of the industry: the dealers. This forum will enable us to learn quite a bit from each other. And that’s exciting,” said Pat Cunnane, president of Advanced Sports, Inc., which owns the Breezer brand.
ASI will serve as the Tour’s presenting sponsor, providing Breezer bikes and support for riders. Participants will experience the Dallas bikeways on Breezer Infinity commuter bikes, fully equipped with dynamo lights, custom rack and fenders.
“Touring by bicycle and visiting with a number of shops seemed like the perfect way to introduce and tout our new Breezer Uptown commuter model, which features the NuVinci CVP hub technology,” said Cunnane.
Joining tour participants will be Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee, cycling advocate and Breezer founder Joe Breeze.
“To bring the likes of Joe Breeze along and enable dealers to personally engage with him is priceless. He possesses a natural passion for everything bicycles; it’s infectious,” Cunnane added.
The event builds on successful BRAIN Dealer Tours in Orange County, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Boston, Phoenix and Washington, DC.
The three-day tour begins today and wraps up Thursday. Editors will produce daily web reports and enhanced multimedia coverage including video clips and photo galleries on the BRAIN Blog.
