PHILADELPHIA (BRAIN) — Fuji Bikes is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall its step-through Saratoga cruisers due to potential frame breakage.
The company is recalling about 10,500 bikes, model years 2008-2010, sold to specialty retailers nationwide. The recall applies to Saratogas 1.0 through 4.0, step-through frame models only.
The bike being recalled have serial numbers beginning with ICFJ7, ICFJ8, ICFJ9, ICFJ10 and ICFJ11.
The frame can break in the center of the down tube. There have been 12 reports of breakage and two reports of injury, according to the company. The injuries included a head laceration requiring 20 stitches and scrapes and bruises.
Consumers with affected bikes are being told to stop using them immediately and contact their authorized Fuji dealer for a free inspection and frame replacement.
