WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN) Jan. 18, 1:11 pm MT—Giant Bicycle is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 900 road bikes because their forks can crack.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fork problem.

Gore is recalling some specific SKUs of its Gore RideOn brake cables. The company is asking retailers to immediately stop sales of the affected products.

CHAPEL HILL, NC (BRAIN)—Performance, Inc., is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 2,900 Forte Pro Carbon road pedals. The pedal body can break, causing the rider to lose control. The company has received reports of three pedals breaking; no injuries were reported.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is working with Nautilus Inc. to recall about 10,000 Schwinn 460 elliptical exercise machines.

BOISE, ID (BRAIN)— BOB Trailers Inc. has issued a recall for its strollers with embroidered canopy logos, saying the backing patch of the canopy’s embroidered logo can detach, posing a choking hazard for babies and young children.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with Trek, has issued a voluntary recall of about 27,000 FX and District bikes from the 2012 model year.

The bolt that secures the seat saddle clamp to the seat post can break posing a fall hazard.

CALGARY, Alberta (BRAIN)—As the manufacturer of Chariot products Thule has been notifying its customers in North America of a recall to select Chariot bicycle trailer kits.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Bridgeway International, has issued a voluntary recall of about 91,000 bikes.

The bicycle chain can break, causing a rider to lose control and fall.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Specialized, has issued a voluntary recall of about 14,200 bicycles with Advanced Group carbon forks.

Specialized was unavailable for further comment.

BEAVERTON, OR (BRAIN)—The FlipSide bike carrier is being recalled, according to Yakima.

A small number of units shipped from April 2008 through June 2011 have malfunctioned. In these instances, the FlipSide’s upright mast has folded to the side while the vehicle is in motion.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Quality Bicycle Products, has issued a voluntary recall of about 100 Civia bicycle racks for mounting over the front bicycle wheel.

The alloy steerer tube could separate from the fork causing the rider to lose control, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Salsa Cycles—a subsidiary of distributor Quality Bicycle Products—issued a voluntary recall of about 6,500 Salsa handlebar stems.

The handlebar stems can crack or break, posing a fall hazard to the rider.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Seattle Bike Supply, has issued a voluntary recall of about 200 Redline D640 bikes.
