AUSTIN, Texas (BRAIN) — Woom, which has offered high-end youth bikes to U.S. consumers since 2014, is launching its first youth-size mountain bikes this fall.
Based in Austria with a U.S. office in Austin, Woom primarily sells direct to consumers from its website; it also has a small number of brick-and-mortar retailers. Its previous offerings include lightweight balance bikes and hybrid-style bikes with 20-inch, 24-inch and 26-inch wheels to fit kids from 1 1/2 to 14 years old. Prices ranged from $200 for its 6.6-pound balance bike to $500 for its 26-inch wheeled Woom 6 model.
The new Woom OFF series of mountain bikes includes three models retailing for $670 to $700.
The OFF bikes have hydroformed aluminum frames and carbon fiber forks. They have single-chainring SRAM XR shifting with trigger levers; the chainring has a custom guard to prevent chain drop. The bikes have Schwalbe tires and a custom stem that can be mounted upside-down for a wide range of handlebar adjustment.
Weights, without pedals, range from 17.2 pounds for the 20-inch wheel model to 20.5 pounds for the 26-inch model.

Each Woom OFF comes with a set of stickers in four different colors. The rims and top tube can be custom designed or simply left in the matte look. The Woom OFF comes in three sizes, 20," 24," and 26," priced at $669, $679, and $699 respectively. The full line was available for preorders this week with bikes shipping in late October. Next spring the brand will offer a version of the Woom OFF with an air suspension fork.
