SANTA CRUZ, CA (BRAIN) — Days after unveiling its second 27.5-inch-wheel bike released this spring—and closely following the introduction of Juliana Bicycles as its own separate line—Santa Cruz Bicycles took the wraps off the next generation of its Tallboy 29er on Friday.
The original Tallboy was introduced in 2009 and quickly became Santa Cruz’s best-selling model. The Tallboy 2 retains the original bike’s geometry but comes in a half-pound lighter, with improved pedaling efficiency, new shock tuning and increased stiffness, Santa Cruz says.
Complete bikes are expected to start shipping to dealers June 17. Suggested retail is currently set to start at $2,399 for the aluminum version and $4,150 for carbon, though those prices are likely to be adjusted as 2014 kits and options arrive, said Scott Turner, marketing/PR for Santa Cruz.
Frame-only options for both carbon and aluminum are expected to become available in early September.
