SAN CARLOS, Calif. (BRAIN) — Beeline has changed its order fulfillment strategy with Amazon to offer free assembly and setup in eligible locations for bikes purchased for $500 or more at the e-commerce giant.
Beeline began fulfilling Amazon bike purchases last year, but the mobile bike service's individual franchisees set their own prices for assembly and delivery to bid on orders against other assemblers through the Amazon Home Services platform.
"You would only be shown if you were the lowest-price option," said Pete Small, Beeline's vice president of business and marketing operations.
With the new Amazon agreement, bike orders to be delivered in ZIP codes where Beeline has franchises are eligible for free assembly and delivery when shoppers hit the "Select Assembly Preferences" button before adding the bike to their shopping cart. North American mobile competitor Velofix also appears as a free delivery option in its eligible locations.
"Our goal at Beeline is to make cycling more accessible by offering a convenient, professional service to our customers," said Pete Buhl, Beeline co-founder and CEO. "More and more consumers are becoming comfortable purchasing online. With that mindset, Beeline ensures that consumers are able to ride a professionally assembled, tuned and safe bike — bringing together the best aspects of brick-and-mortar bike shops and direct-to-consumer online shopping within the bike industry."
