Tern makes custom bikes for the EKOCYCLE movement

Published March 25, 2015

TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Tern is making two limited edition folding bikes for EKOCYCLE, a program being supported by The Coca-Cola Company and the musician will.i.am.

The EKOCYCLE bikes is available at Harrods UK stores as part of an EKOCYCLE product range that includes more than 150 lifestyle products.

EKOCYCLE grew out of will.i.am's desire to reduce waste at music concerts. He later joined Coca-Cola to start an initiative to encourage recycling.

The Tern bikes for EKOCYCLE have hydroformed frames made of aluminum containing a minimum of 10 percent recycled content. Other components contained recycled materials, including rims made in a solar-powered factory. The limited edition bikes have dynamo-powered lights, reducing the need for batteries.

The EKOCYCLE Shop opened at Harrods earlier this month. The two Tern models will retail for $3,765 and $1,395. Next month, Tern will give away one of the models on Facebook.
