PHOENIX, Ariz. (BRAIN) — Industry veteran and life-long cyclist Beverly Barr has recently retired after helping to shepherd Pivot Cycles' credit and collections department through the company's first seven years of business.
Prior to working at Pivot, Barr worked in the Burley Trailers credit department for 13 years and was a founding member of The Reimer Pedal and Spoke Group, a professional credit organization for the bicycle industry that is still going strong today.
"Bev' is well known and well respected by bicycle dealers around the world, many of whom she has worked with for multiple decades. She is known as both a friend and advocate for dealers and has made it a career goal to treat everyone with respect and compassion. She cherishes her relationships with her customers and truly cares about them, their families and their businesses," said Chris Cocalis, the president and CEO of Pivot Cycles.
Cindy Cocalis, Pivot's CFO and controller, said, "Beverly was actually retired when we started Pivot, and we were lucky to be able to convince her to start working again. She's been with us from start-up through seven years of rapid growth and has helped us to define and sculpt our credit and collections policies and procedures every step of the way. She will be sorely missed by the Pivot Cycles staff and our customers."
Barr said the bike industry "is a dream for people in my profession."
"I've met so many creative, intelligent individuals who have dedicated their lives to getting more people to participate in this superlative sport. As a group, they are kind, fun and filled with integrity. I will miss my daily interactions with the best folks you could ask to do business with."
Barr commuted to work by bicycle almost every day. In this, her second try at retirement, she plans to travel, ride her bike in both her home state of Oregon and around the world, and spend tons of quality time with her daughter.
Credit and collections responsibilities at Pivot have transitioned to Emily Landeryou. She can be reached at (480) 467-2920, or emily@pivotcycles.com.
