BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — A new movie by filmmaker Benedict Campbell, "For the Love of Mud, a Film about Cyclo-cross," will premiere at the USA Cycling national cyclocross championships on Jan. 9.
The sold-out presentation in Austin will be followed a week later by a presentation at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado. Both presentations are being sponsored by Boulder-based power meter maker Stages Cycling. The Jan. 13 Boulder presentation is a fundraiser for Boulder Junior Cycling and the Amy D. Foundation.
"For the Love of Mud" includes coverage from last year's cyclocross nationals in Boulder, as well as footage from the World Championships in Hoogerheide, Belgium, along with numerous Superprestige races across Europe. Interviews include top pros Sven Nys, Helen Wyman, Jeremy Powers, and Katie Compton, along with age groupers and rabid fans.
Campbell's previous documentaries include "It Ain't About Cav," "Café Cowboy" and "The Wall of Death."
"From the moment we signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Texas event, I had the feeling that we just had to bring this to Boulder," said Matt Pacocha, Stages Cycling marketing manager. "Our success would not have been possible without the support of cyclists, teams, and local retail establishments here in Boulder. Our business isn't even two years old, and yet we've gone from humbly selling our first meters to riders and racers in Boulder to equipping the likes of Team Sky, and world champions in all disciplines of cycling. We couldn't have had this success without the support of the local cycling community, and we want to help give something back. We're just so fortunate that Benedict is on board and so willing to donate his creative work in support of the sport of cyclocross and worthy causes within our community. "
Tickets for the Boulder presentation went on sale Monday at bouldertheater.com.
