WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The League of American Bicyclists released its latest list of Bicycle Friendly Communities in the U.S. on Tuesday, noting that with new additions this round, there are 69 million Americans living in bike friendly spaces, with at least one designated community in each state.
Altogether there are more than 325 communities nationwide that received either a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum designation. The four Platiunum level communities are Boulder, Colorado, Portland, Oregon, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Davis, California. Communities in Hawaii (Honolulu City and County) and North Dakota (Greater Grand Forks and the Fargo-Moorhead MPO) awarded this cycle have brought the program to each of the 50 states.
“Visionary community leaders are recognizing the real-time and long term impact that a culture of bicycling can create,” said Andy Clarke, president of the League. “We applaud this new round of communities for investing in a more sustainable future for the country and a healthier future for their residents.”
