PORTLAND, OR (BRAIN) Thursday May 3 2012 3:23 PM MT—Phoenix Pro Cycles has signed up and coming pro Tyler Faoro for the Phoenix Factory team for 2012 and beyond.

The two-year-old coming sees the signing of the potenial Olympian as a big step forward.

"This is a great achievement for Phoenix," said Phoenix Cycles owner Tom Floyd. "In our second year as a brand, we've gone from having a top USA BMX amateur team to having a solid contender for the Olympics. Whether he makes the team or not this year is almost irrelevant. His feedback and reputation are already doing more for our brand than we could have expected.

New Balance continues sponsorship of Garmin-Barracuda team

BOSTON, MA (BRAIN) Friday May 4 2012 9:26 AM MT—New Balance has renewed its partnership with Team Garmin-Barracuda for the 2012 season, the athletic company announced Friday.

New Balance will be the official athletic shoe partner for the team’s off-bike training. New Balance will provide athletic footwear for all off-bike activities as part of their conditioning-improvement program.

“We were very pleased with the team’s results in the first year of our partnership,” said Alan Hed, New Balance's executive vice president. “As one of pro cycling’s most talented and hard-working teams, we see this relationship as an ideal match with New Balance’s values and positioning as one of the world’s fastest growing athletic brands. Sponsoring elite athletes like Team Garmin-Barracuda, in addition to more traditional track & field runners and marathoners, allows New Balance as a brand to gain visibility across several fields of play.”

The same as last year, New Balance corporate logos will be on the official team kit and support vehicles and New Balance stores will be able to feature co-branded Team Garmin-Baracuda products and advertising.

San Francisco Bike to Work Day gets wiggly video

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BRAIN) Friday May 4 2012 9:33 AM MT—Local bicycle enthusiasts are celebrating San Francisco’s upcoming Bike to Work Day with a 60-second video inspired by the city's "Wiggle" bike route.

The Wiggle is a one-mile, zig-zagging route from Market Street to Golden Gate Park that minimizes any climbs up the city's famous hills.

“I love that San Francisco has bike routes, let alone bike routes with names,” said Lawrence Grodeska, vocalist of The Real Numbers and “Do the Wiggle!” songwriter. “A bike route in San Francisco called ‘The Wiggle’ clearly needed its own jingle, just as residents need to be reminded how easy it is to bicycle in San Francisco.”

San Francisco's 12th Annual Bike to Work day is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 2012.
