BOULDER, CO; PORTLAND, OR; NORTHFIELD, VT (BRAIN)—Product Architects, maker of the Polar insulated water bottle, has expanded its sales and accounting staff with the hire of Mike Goldberg as sales associate and Montana Marsden as accounting manager. The company now employs 34 full-time staff.
"Business has been good, and we're ready to take it to the next level," said Judy Amabile, president of Product Architects. "These are new positions we created as part of a strategic growth initiative."
Goldberg has more than six years of retail and sales experience in the outdoor and advertising industries. He most recently worked at giantnerd.com, an online social shopping community focused on outdoor gear. He has also worked as a ski patroller, fly fishing guide and snowcat guide. Goldberg is tasked with expanding Polar Bottle's retail network.
Marsden, a recent college graduate, will handle accounting and evaluate future opportunities for the company working with in-house product development.
Meanwhile Volagi Cycles has hired Sasquatch, a Portland-based marketing agency, to provide general marketing strategy, advertising and PR services. Volagi, headquartered in Cotati, California, went to market recently with a line of carbon fiber frame road bikes with disc brakes. Volagi is the agency’s first bike brand.
And sock maker Darn Tough Vermont has picked up Interex Industries as its distributor in the Canadian market. Interex is headquartered in Vancouver and has distribution warehouses on Canada’s East and West coasts. The company, which has a sales force of 30 independent reps, has distributed apparel and sporting goods for the outdoor market for more than 40 years. Its other product lines include Yaktrax, Grangers, Minus 33, Smartshield, High Gear and Ocean Minded.
