Steve Parke Leaves ASI to Return West

PHILADELPHIA, PA (BRAIN)—A little over a year after joining Advanced Sports Inc. as director of sales, Steve Parke has left the company. His last day was Friday.

Parke said he had compelling family reasons to move back to the West Coast, where he relocated from with his wife when he joined ASI, and that his departure is on good terms.

“I like Pat’s business premise. It’s very sound,” Parke said about ASI’s president and CEO. “But I have to own up to being a West Coast guy.”

Parke said he hopes to stay in the bike industry, and is currently looking for an opportunity that allows him to stay in California.

Parke oversaw all international and domestic sales for ASI’s six brands including Fuji, Kestrel, SE, Breezer, Terry Precision and Oval Concepts. Leading up to his departure, Parke helped reassign his responsibilities to brand managers and existing sales managers.

“Steve did an excellent job helping with the transition. Brand managers will all have additional sales responsibilities now,” said Pat Cunnane, ASI president. In addition to brand managers, ASI’s sales structure also includes national sales manager Roy Hough, national accounts manager Tom Roth and international sales manager David Anker, he said.

In other personnel changes, Fabio Selvig recently joined ASI as brand manager for Oval Concepts, a component brand now spec’d on Fuji, Kestrel and Breezer bikes.

Selvig comes off of a recent stint as general manager of BMC’s U.S. subsidiary.

“Fabio Selvig is talented, knowledgeable, and practiced,” said Cunnane. “We’re extremely lucky to have him on board, and we have a lot of confidence that he can take Oval Concepts to the next level.”

Selvig got his start in the industry in the early 1990s while racing triathlons. Beginning his career as a triathlon department manager at Belmont Wheelworks in Massachusetts and then international sales and marketing manager at Merlin and Quintana Roo, Selvig was hired by Liberty Mutual in 2003 to manage the sponsorship of its UCI pro tour cycling team Liberty Seguros, which is when he was first introduced to the Oval Concepts brand.

Selvig next worked as marketing manager of Cervélo Cycles, managing their demo program. He was recruited in September 2009 by BMC to set up its U.S. offices. He left BMC earlier this year.
