VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN)—The Vancouver Convention Centre is presenting a brand new consumer cycling show this fall called VeloSpoke. It will take place on September 8 and 9 at the Convention Centre.
Held in conjunction with the race package pick-up for the RBC GranFondo Whistler, Canada’s largest mass cycling event, VeloSpoke will feature an audience of more than 7,000 GranFondo racers. Also open to the public, the show will attract local and international cycling enthusiasts.
“Given the success of the RBC GranFondo Whistler last year, a consumer show is a natural extension to the event,” said Ken Cretney, general manager, Vancouver Convention Centre. “As a participant in last year’s event, I feel an interactive, educational show will definitely add to the excitement and overall experience for all the riders.”
Utilizing over 61,000 ft2 of event space, VeloSpoke will bring together over 100 exhibitors for an energizing showcase of products and services from top lifestyle and cycling brands. The show will also feature unique activations, including a main stage with performances, a photo wall, bike fitting zone, kids’ corner and wellness zone.
“VeloSpoke is a breath of fresh air for the Canadian cycling industry, providing exhibitors with a unique platform to promote their products and services to a large audience at a stunning facility,” said Mark Lavigne, show director, VeloSpoke. “Businesses in the industry will not want to miss out on this great opportunity to showcase their brands and engage with enthusiastic cyclists.”
Another draw to the inaugural VeloSpoke show is the exciting line-up of high profile cycling personalities. This includes Bob Roll or “Bobke," familiar to many North Americans as the “face” of cycling commentary. He will join his former teammate Alex Stieda (the first North American to wear the Tour de France’s coveted yellow jersey) to provide attendees with an inside scoop on the Tour de France.
