PETALUMA, CA (BRAIN)—Award winning filmmaker Michael John Evans turned his camera on frame builder Sean Walling of Soulcraft, delivering a slightly different frame building video.
The seamless editing makes the creation of Soulcraft’s frames, from selecting tubing, machining and notching various tubes and bending stays look easier and better orchestrated than it really is.
“The video was six minutes, but it actually takes me 20 to make a frame. Really, it’s about eight hours to go from raw tubes to finished frame ready to paint,” Walling said.
Evans short film "Naturally Risen" about acclaimed pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri, won the 2010 New York Food Film Festival, for best super short. Walling admits a filmmaker of Evans talent filming him at work in the shop is not an everyday event.
