PHILADELPHIA, PA (BRAIN)—Veteran product manager Steven Fairchild has rejoined Advanced Sports. He will take on all road and specialty product development for ASI's bike brands including Fuji, Kestrel, SE, Breezer and Terry.
Fairchild originally worked at ASI from 1985 through 2003—at that time the only brand in its portfolio was Fuji. Under his tutelage, the Fuji brand was set on a forward projectile that saw tremendous growth in its product portfolio as well as position in the marketplace. He trained ASI's former product manager, Mark Smith, before moving on to work for Jamis.
"We are more than pleased to have Steven back at ASI," said Mike Gann, director of product development. "He brings a depth of knowledge about product development that we value, respect and appreciate."
One of the most experienced product managers in the industry, Fairchild began his career in retail, managing a bike shop in Florida—where they sold Fuji—in the late 70s and early 80s. After a stint as a full-time bike racer, from 1981-1984, he headed into the manufacturing end of the industry as a customer service rep.
"It feels like I'm coming home—it's great to be back," Fairchild said. "I'm excited, very excited about the future and what I can contribute at ASI to help it grow even more."
