Priestley Launching Bike Trade News

Published February 1, 2010

MELBOURNE, Australia (BRAIN)—Former industry publisher, David Priestley, after being away from publishing, is returning to the industry with the Web site, Bike Trade News. It officially launches Monday, February 15.

For the past 14 months, Priestley has been evolving a consumer Web site, www.comecyclingwithme.com, which had some basic industry news on its pages.

"I knew of course that industry news is quite specific, much of it has little interest to the general public, and much of it the general public shouldn't have any access to, so after a few weeks I stopped posting industry news on its pages," he said.

"Bike Trade News is free—industry insiders will need to register with their business name, and their name and their own unique password to be able to access the Web site, which will be updated regularly and will have a twitter aspect to notify subscribers as new stories are posted on the Web site," Priestley said.

The Web site will cover the Australasian bicycle industry, as well as major news items from industry around the world.

"This is similar to the format I pioneered back in the 1980s, and it must have been successful as it was quickly copied by other publishers," Priestley said.

"I'm still finalizing several matters appertaining to the site itself and will be in Adelaide from February 1-8 for the Australian Track Cycling Championships and will be calling on various trade members while I'm in the South Australian capital," Priestley added. "I'm looking forward to resuming friendships within the industry that I have missed over the past decade."
