WATERTOWN, MA (BRAIN)—Do you wonder what it takes to design a new bike? How are design decisions made? That and more will be published on Seven Cycle’s blog, www.sevencyclescollaborative.com.
A group of Seven employees working together on a development process from initial concepts to materials selection and testing all the way through design and fabrication. No part of the project is predetermined, and everything will be posted online so anyone can follow along.
“Everyone’s excited to work on such an unusual project,” said Rob Vandermark, Seven Cycles’ president. “The uniqueness comes not only from developing a product unlike any we’ve done before, but to do so in such a transparent way. Anybody who wants to know how the process is unfolding can check in and see what’s happening. You can even follow the progress on Twitter.”
By posting all of the details of this project on the blog, readers have access to the type of work process, systems and internal conversations that previously only employees would have been granted access. It’s a unique learning opportunity for the participants and the reader to move step-by-step through each activity, witness the successes and failures, and learn how all this eventually informs the final product.
