Sugoi Hires New Design VP

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN)—Sugoi Performance Apparel has hired Andrew Coutant as its new vice president of design and development.

Coutant joins Sugoi with a strong 20-year background in the outdoor and athletic industry; his track record shows substantially increased market share and heightened product quality through unique design and development initiatives.

Coutant was most recently with Brooks Sports as the director of research and development/sourcing. Coutant succeeded in increasing gross weighted margin by up to 7 percent during his tenor.

In 2002 Coutant held the product development manager title at ASICS in California. Looking after apparel and accessories, Coutant played a key role in winning the Fleet Feet Apparel Vendor of the Year award two times during his five-year employment.

As vice president of design and development, Coutant will be responsible for the operations side of design and development; formulating and executing a plan for design and development for existing and new business opportunities, enforcing quality processes and driving fabric and construction innovation.
