DUARTE, CA (BRAIN)—Dahon has launched its SAP implementation project. SAP AG is a world leader in ERP software and is used by companies like Siemens, Coca-Cola, and Pioneer. Brands like Zipp Speed Weaponery use it in the bicycle industry. Dahon expects to go live with SAP in the fall of 2009 in all international offices.
Dahon is implementing a SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with the help of IBM Business Services. Scheduled to go online later this year, the multi-million dollar project will improve production efficiency and streamline operations.
“SAP gives us real-time visibility into every aspect of our business operations," said David Hon, founder and chief executive officer of Dahon. “We expect to see pretty dramatic improvements in most of our operational benchmarks. We chose IBM to consult on the implementation both for its depth of experience and its ability to help us implement SAP across all of our global operations.”
A team of 15 IBM consultants is already working closely with employees of the company to implement the system. “To be honest, the growth we’ve experienced over the last few years has outstripped our existing systems,” said Joshua Hon, Dahon vice president. “By moving to SAP, we take a big step forward in our manufacturing and business planning capabilities. We’re very bullish about the growth prospects of the bicycle industry in the coming years and this big investment now will pay dividends down the line.”
