MILAN, Italy (BRAIN)—The Italian bicycle and motorcycle show kicks off today in Milan. The exhibition, in its 66th edition, will run until Sunday, November 9, but today and tomorrow are trade-only days. On Thursday the show opens to the general public.
While a bit later in the show calendar, EICMA remains an important event for Italian road frame builders and parts makers. The six-day expo is a showcase of high-end carbon road machines.
Show organizers will once again include four days of bike racing in the 166-meter velodrome inside the Fiera Milano. Bikes4Show, which kicks off this morning, combines music and competition and includes all the specialties that are traditionally part of six-day races.
Twice world champion and winner of the gold medal at the Athens Olympics, Paolo Bettini, will once again race.
EICMA’s opening ceremony is tomorrow. Speaking to the importance of motorcycles and bicycles in the region, prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and Roberto Formigoni, governor of Lombardy, will speak at the inauguration.
