LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN)—If you happened to be walking the Interbike show floor, you probably saw—at least once—an attendee holding a box of Shimano shoes.
What they were holding was actually a Shimano custom fit shoe. It was part of a promotion in an effort for Shimano to continue to educate and promote the uniqueness of its shoe line. Even the great Kozo Shimano was fitting shoes.
So how many shoes did Shimano end up selling?
"I don't have a number for you, but suffice it to say we had a very successful show," said Devin Walton, public relations manager for Shimano. "The promotion allowed us some face time with dealers to talk about the product as well as show them on their own feet the entire process, start-to-finish.
"One of the huge benefits of the Shimano Custom Fit process is the emphasis that we put in providing the structure and tools to make sure that fitting is a precise and repeatable process that relies on minimal training," Walton added.
