VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN)—Sugoi Performance Apparel, a division of Dorel Industries, has hired Scott Parr as vice president of sales for North America.
Parr has served as director of sales since 2005 for JanSport, a division of VF Corporation. In that capacity, he oversaw $80 million in sales for two divisions and was responsible for all aspects of brand and business development in Canada.
From 1996 to 2005, Parr was an owner and operator of Great Lakes Outdoor Group, a sales agency representing manufactures in the sports specialty and sporting goods industries in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. During that time, he represented a wide range of brands, including Pearl Izumi, Hind, Bridgedale, Garmont, CamelBak, Osprey, Horny Toad and Timex.
Stan Mavis, president of Sugoi, said, “I’ve known and worked with Scott since the 1990s, and he’s absolutely at the top of the field. Because of his great background in active apparel and proven sales expertise, he will have an immediate impact on our company.”
Parr, 38, who will relocate to Vancouver, said, “Sugoi is a phenomenal brand with a tremendous amount of momentum in the market. Joining the company at this point is an outstanding opportunity, and I look forward to helping it grow to an even greater extent.”
Before starting Great Lakes, Parr served as a team technician for Lance Armstrong and the Motorola Professional Cycling Team from 1992 to 1995. He is the author of Tales from the Toolbox (Velopress, 1997) and is an avid skier, cyclist, runner and Aikido black belt.
Tim Hanifin will continue his duties as director of U.S. sales for Sugoi, reporting to Parr and working with him to build the North American market.
