NEW YORK, NY (BRAIN)—Rodale has promoted Loren Mooney to editor-in-chief of Bicycling magazine, effective September 2. She will take over for Steve Madden, who was promoted to vice president, editorial director of Rodale International.

“Loren is a tremendously gifted editor who has spearheaded Bicycling’s coverage of both women’s cycling and triathlons, two of the fastest growing segments of the sport,” said Steven Pleshette Murphy, president and chief executive officer of Rodale. “Working closely with Steve, she has helped develop one of the most dynamic sports brands on the market. Building on their successful collaboration, Loren will continue to grow Bicycling both in print and online.”

In his new role, Madden will oversee editorial for all of Rodale’s international magazines.

“Our robust international business is growing even faster than anticipated, and Steve will ensure that we maintain a consistent level of excellence across all of our publications as we continue our rapid expansion,” said Michelle Meyercord, vice president and director of Rodale International. “Steve has a demonstrated commitment to great journalism, and we’re thrilled to have him lead our international editorial team. His digital expertise will be particularly valuable, as we see online activities driving even more of our overseas growth going forward.”
