INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Silca is offering an aerodynamic wheel magnet for use with bike comuters. Besides reducing wind drag compared to standard magnets, the product can be weighted with four small tungsten slugs to offset the weight of the valve stem.
The Silca Speed Balance shaves up to 1 watt of drag at 30 mph, the company said. The weights create a perfectly balanced wheel which, the company said, improves handling, comfort and confidence, especially on high speed descents. The slugs weigh 2.5 grams each.
The Speed Balance has a flexible adhesive top that the company said will fit any rim and stay firmly attached.
