LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN) — Thule introduced a new $250 fork-mount bike attachment at Interbike. The Sprint model includes a clamp with an automatic torque adjustment, a telescoping wheel tray for hatchback clearance and road-shock insulators.
The Sprint is built on an oversized arched tray and has the company's "SpeedLink" mouting straps, which fit Thule rack systems, round bars and factory installed racks.
The fork attachement is adjusted with a front-facing dial that automatically clicks when the appropriate locking torque is reached, much like an automobile gas cap. Shock absorbing elastomers are embedded in the wheel tray to reduce road shock damage to the bike.
The telescoping tray extends as far as needed to fit the bike and can be shortened to allow hatchbacks to open fully.
The Sprint will be available in late spring.
Another new model, the Circuit, has similar features but uses a standard locking lever, instead of the tightening knob, for the fork clamp. The Circuit will retail for $159 and be available in March 2013.
