TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Taiwanese manufacturer Velocite Bikes has partnered with electronics giant Acer to demonstrate in real time the airflow benefits of its new aero road frame.
Taipei, Taiwan-based Acer, the fourth largest PC maker globally, developed a high-performance server that Velocite used in designing its Helios road frame, according to a story published this week by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. Velocite CEO Victor Major showed the technology at the recent Cycle Show in the United Kingdom.
“Having powerful computing equipment to run advanced simulations can help avoid the guess work and the possibility of an error-prone human analysis of bike design,” Major said.
The same server Major used — Acer’s AT350 F2 — also supported the Intel Xeon E5 series processors and the latest graphics processing chips from Nvidia Corp.
Last year, Acer helped upgrade the data center of the Ferrari Formula One team through the use of high-speed computing infrastructure and solutions. Acer’s servers simulated F1 cars’ behavior under the most extreme weather conditions.
