PITTSBURGH (BRAIN) — Dick's Sporting Goods will close 11 Moosejaw locations, including the outdoor speciality retailer's headquarters in Madison Heights, Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The stores — which include seven in Michigan — will close in February. Three Moosejaw stores will remain open and are located in Birmingham, Michigan; Salt Lake City; and Bentonville, Arkansas.
A Dick's spokesperson said the sporting goods giant will form one team to support the remaining Moosejaw locations and the Public Lands locations. Public Lands is Dick's own specialty retail chain, which opened in 2021. Public Lands has seven stores and sells bike brands including Cannondale.
Dick's acquired Moosejaw from Walmart in February. Walmart had acquired Moosejaw — which sells brands normally sold in specialty outdoor stores, including bike products, in brick-and-mortar locations and online — for $51 million in 2017.
