PARK CITY, Utah (BRAIN) — Bloomberg is reporting that TSG Consumer Partners is weighing the possible sale of Backcountry.com and its related e-commerce sites, which include CompetitiveCyclist.com. Bloomberg attributed the report to unnamed people with knowledge of the situation.
Backcountry.com's other sites include MotoSport, Bergfreunde and Steep & Cheap. It also has six brick-and-mortar stores with several more planned to open this year.
Backcountry was founded in 1996 in Park City, Utah. It acquired CompetitiveCyclist in 2011. In 2015, TSG acquired a majority stake in the company from Liberty Interactive Corporation.
