Voting still open for BPSA members considering merger with PeopleForBikes

Published April 22, 2019

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — While the boards of PeopleForBikes and the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association have approved a merger of the two groups, a majority of the members of the BPSA must still vote for the merger for it to become final.

About a third of BPSA members have voted so far, some at the Bicycle Leadership Conference in Monterey, California, earlier this month, and some via email. The email voting remains open until June 10.

Ballots were emailed to members last week.

"We've done a thorough job of informing the members, both before and during this balloting process," said BPSA's president, Adam Micklin. "We hope we've earned their trust and support for this historic step forward."

In an interview with BRAIN, Micklin said the merger, in the works for 18 months, is needed in part so the industry can work more quickly on the challenges it faces, “We need to go faster," he said. "Our goal is to not only grow cycling but to effect change in our industry at a much faster rate than having separate organizations allows.”
