Greenville, SC – Boyd Cycling, a leading innovator in high-performance bicycle wheels, is ramping up U.S. production of carbon fiber and alloy rims. This move has been years in the making and was strategically planned ahead of the newly imposed tariffs on Chinese imports, with a goal of bringing production and jobs to the U.S. and positioning Boyd Cycling as a key domestic supplier for cycling brands seeking high-quality, competitively priced alternatives.

Boyd Johnson, co-founder of Boyd Cycling, has been a steadfast advocate for strengthening U.S. manufacturing within the cycling industry. In 2022, Boyd Cycling established Olive Manufacturing Group, laying the groundwork for U.S.-based aluminum rim production, which successfully launched in 2023. Building on this momentum, Boyd expanded his efforts in 2024 with the acquisition of Munich Composites, a leading German carbon rim manufacturer, further strengthening Boyd Cycling’s global presence.

In 2025, the brand will debut new products at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California, from April 10-13. This new collection underscores Boyd Cycling’s unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and U.S. manufacturing excellence.

“Our goal is to provide a competitive solution to cycling brands for high-performance, domestically produced carbon fiber and aluminum rims at very competitive pricing compared to landed cost pricing from Asia,” said Johnson.

The new U.S.-manufactured carbon fiber rims will not only offer a reliable and cost-effective alternative to overseas production but also reduce supply chain vulnerabilities, providing cycling brands with more flexibility and faster turnaround times.

Boyd Cycling has established itself as a premium brand in the cycling community, boasting 15 years of profitable operations and experienced business leadership with a professional cycling background. Through the acquisition of the world's most advanced and automated carbon fiber rim capabilities—along with IP, patents, and manufacturing control—Boyd Cycling is poised for explosive growth. Vertical integration, expansion into global markets, and OEM opportunities are key drivers of the company's future success.
