The Bicycle Leadership Conference (BLC), hosted by PeopleForBikes, offers industry executives a unique opportunity to engage and collaborate on the most pressing challenges facing the bike business, from navigating evolving global regulations to understanding shifting trade policies. In addition to critical discussions on safety standards, sustainability, and tariffs, expert speakers will explore a wide range of topics — from innovation in product design to cycling's role in improving health outcomes. With top legal experts, industry leaders, and visionaries lending their expertise, this is a must-attend conference for those looking to drive growth and shape the future of the bicycle industry.
"The evolving political landscape affecting the bicycle industry today and in the future requires a unified, proactive response," said Matt Moore, policy counsel at PeopleForBikes. "The BLC offers an invaluable opportunity for our industry to come together, exchange insights, and develop actionable strategies that will help mitigate the impacts and capitalize on the opportunities presented by these new policies."
Moore will lead a session at the BLC with policy experts to unpack regulatory advancements in domestic and foreign markets. The group will walk attendees through the past, present, and future of bicycle regulations, governing bodies, and category definitions. The collaborative discussion will give attendees actionable steps to steer well-informed business decisions.
"Everything has changed in Washington and our policy and legal teams work with Congress, the new administration, and regulatory agencies to best position the bike industry in an ever-changing legislative environment," said PeopleForBikes CEO Jenn Dice. "At the BLC attendees hear from our lobbyists on critical steps each individual business needs to take for their own products and customers. Then collectively, we set competition aside to speak with one powerful business voice driving change in trade, tariff, and tax policies."
PeopleForBikes' trade and legislative work at all levels of government is influenced by the leadership and direction of dozens of industry volunteers who serve on the organization's board of directors, Bicycle Product Suppliers Association Committee, and Legal and Legislative Committee. Those same volunteers also assist in curating the content of the BLC, ensuring that conference sessions meet the wide-ranging needs of industry executives and decision-makers.
Building on Moore's deep dive into the potential impacts of current and future regulations, PeopleForBikes' Washington, D.C. lobbyist Charles Cooper will lead a discussion on the current state of federal trade policies, their future direction, and how the bicycle industry can effectively advocate for more favorable outcomes. The session offers a comprehensive overview of the risks businesses face and provides a strategic roadmap for how bike industry brands can get involved to influence the development of these policies.
The Bicycle Leadership Conference will be held March 18-20 in Tucson, Arizona.
