Family members, loved ones and friends alike can share in the stoke this holiday season knowing that their gifts will generate ear-to-ear smiles, both around the tree and at the trailhead. PEARL iZUMi’s shoes and apparel make for the perfect gifts to keep riding during the winter riding season, including the popular BikeStyle collection and key pieces made from sustainable Merino wool. To make the offer even more appealing, PEARL iZUMi is offering 25% off its entire online inventory as part of its sitewide sale valid now through Dec. 3.
“PEARL iZUMi continues to broaden its social purpose and sustainability initiatives in ways that create both immediate and lasting impacts in cycling communities everywhere, and the broader industry as a whole,” said Geoff Shaffer, VP of Global Brand Marketing for PEARL iZUMi. “It has been rewarding to see our employees first inspire and then fully embrace these programs, from creating new ideas to rolling up their sleeves to help with trail build days, together making a tangible positive impact across the Front Range of Colorado.”
To date, the “Go grants” program has worked with Boulder County Open Spaces to perform trail work and donated directly to dozens of cycling-centric organizations including IMBA, People for Bikes and Trips for Kids. PEARL iZUMi has also partnered directly with Pedal 4 Possible, a fundraising ride that raises money for the Craig Hospital, a world-renowned rehabilitation facility that specializes in the neuro-rehabilitation and research of patients with spinal cord and brain injuries. To encourage hands-on participation in these programs, the company also introduced Advocacy Time-Off, a company-wide initiative that allows each employee two days of annual paid leave to volunteer with partner organizations.
The “Go grants” program is a part of PEARL iZUMi’s broader social purpose program encouraging its employees, its company partners and the cycling community as a whole to Ride More, Do More. This well-received initiative was created via a company-wide undertaking to reimagine the brand’s overall mission and clearly identify its core values, with a specific focus on business practices, product and advocacy.
The Ride More, Do More, efforts have been highly successful to date with PEARL iZUMi ahead of schedule to meet and exceed its stated goals including a target of 30% of the product line to be made from recycled, renewable or organic materials by 2020, on the way toward a long-term commitment of making 90% of the product line from sustainable materials by 2022. The company has made significant changes to its business practices to make them more sustainable both within the company, as well as throughout the entire production process from sourcing to retail display. In Spring 2019, PEARL iZUMi virtually eliminated product hangtags, saving a significant amount of paper, water and oil every season; these efforts followed on the heels of the brand eliminating paper catalogs in 2018.

About PEARL iZUMi
PEARL iZUMi was founded on two things: the love of cycling and more importantly, love for future generations. More than 60 years ago a father in Japan created a special jersey out of technical fabric for his son, an aspiring bike racer. Since then, the company has been evolving and revolutionizing the design and manufacture of performance apparel and footwear for cyclists. PEARL iZUMi believes how we live today shapes how future generations ride, which is why they are committed to having a positive impact on cycling through sustainability and environmentally friendly actions. PEARL iZUMi’s world headquarters is rooted in the Colorado Front Range where it embraces strong influence, both culturally and structurally, from its Japanese heritage.
