Colorado's Bike Park Season opens Friday, May 31, 2019, at Granby Ranch
Granby Ranch Bike Park, Granby, CO – While most of Colorado's bike parks are still buried under a deep blanket of snow, Granby Ranch Bike Park opens this Friday, May 31, with 95% of its terrain ready to ride.
While Granby Ranch's rough and raw expert DH classics—Strangler, Cougar, Drifter, and Bucknasty—will all be running on opening weekend, families should note that IMBA's Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day, spring edition, is in June. In celebration, Granby Ranch Bike Park will offer free junior bike park passes ($27 value) with the purchase of a standard adult single-day ticket or the single-day two-bump 'Down-Country' day pass on both Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
Granby Ranch Bike Park (formerly known as Solvista Bike Park) is located on US 40, just 20-minutes north of Winter Park and Fraser, CO, and conveniently 1.75hrs from downtown Denver. The bike park offers 18 gravity-specific trails, split roughly 50/50 between beginner/intermediate and advanced terrain. Unlike many other bike parks, Granby Ranch maintains 45-miles of additional purpose-built private cross-country trails, which can be accessed using the bike park's Quickdraw Quad lift.
2019 Ticket pricing is set at $39/$27 for standard adult/junior tickets, which are discounted for advance online purchase to $35/$25, respectively. The 'Down-Country' day-pass offers riders two lift-rides for just $20—window purchase only, not available online—and is designed to give cross-country and new riders a little extra help accessing Granby Ranch's 45-miles of cross-country riding. Granby Ranch calls it, 'XC without all the effort'. For the core DH crowd, Granby Ranch Bike Park offers 2019 season passes for $199/$139 (adult/junior) and a special $85 season pass for all Colorado NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) athletes.
Don't rent—Demo. Whether you're in the market for a new ride or visiting from out of town, don't be afraid to demo a bike. Granby Ranch does not have a rental fleet, rather, the Granby Ranch Bike Shop maintains a contemporary and competitively priced high-end demo fleet. Downhillers can throw a leg over the best-of-the-best—an Intense carbon M16C, which is the pre-cursor to 2018 World Cup Champion Aaron Gwin's new 29-inch World Cup sled. Those looking for a smaller, more manageable, bike might check out Transition Bicycle Company's Patrol Carbon a trendsetting and category-blurring bike with cutting-edge Speed Balanced Geometry (SBG). This bike is at home in the bike park or on Granby Ranch's XC trails. The Patrol will make any rider's first bike park experience or first mountain bike experience better. Granby Ranch has kids demo rigs, too, offering the best kids bike on the market: Transition's 24-inch wheeled Ripcord.
E-biking: It's legal here. Whether you have your own E-bike and are looking for somewhere (legal) to ride it, or you're curious and want first-hand experience, Granby Ranch is your E-bike destination. New for 2019 Granby Ranch offers a fleet of trail-worthy full-suspension and hardtail E-bikes from Kona Bikes for rent. The private Granby Ranch cross-country trail system is open to E-bikes, including rider owned rigs, so you can ride your E-bike without risk of a ticket or hassle from the US Forest Service. Note: E-bikes are currently banned from all non-motorized and single-track trails in the Winter Park/Fraser/Granby/Sulphur Districts by the Colorado State Forest Service.
Fort Bill in the Grill—come watch World Cup Mountain Bike race coverage. Throughout the 2019 bike park season, Granby Ranch will show coverage of the 2019 Mountain Bike World Cup, World Championships and select events from Crankworx-Whistler in the Granby Ranch Grill. Food and drink specials will be offered in conjunction with each event. Plus, if you show up to our ticket window after each race knowing both the men's and women's elite race winners, you'll receive a $5 discount on your day-pass to the bike park.
