SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN)—Nonprofit community shop The Bike Shack is seeking the donation of land or retail space to relocate from its shrinking, tattered current home.

SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN)—REI on Thursday announced plans to open new stores in Ohio and Oregon next year, and relocate a store in North Carolina.

TUSCALOOSA, AL (BRAIN)—“I’m bringing an old school-type feeling to it,” Queen City Cycles’ Jason Capley said of his new shop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Indeed, outside signage in the style of a 1950s gas station beckons customers, while inside the decor is highlighted by vintage jerseys, cycling caps and posters.

DETROIT, MI (BRAIN)—Bicycles are popping up in Motor City.

For the holiday shopping season, Wheelhouse Detroit Bike Shop has opened a pop-up—or temporary—store that will be open through Christmas Eve in the downtown Compuware Building.
