IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association is working with Fixture Lab to study break-ins at bike shops nationally.
As part of the studt the NBDA is asking all North American retailers to complete a survey and share it with their network of dealers to reach as wide a sample as possible.
Brian Hawkins, the owner of Fixture Lab, said he intends the study to help understand the problem and then find solutions.
"I work alongside a lot of specialty retailers in the process of building the stores of their dreams, and it breaks my heart to see the livelihood of these stores threatened by theft ...sometimes before the new store is even open for business! Every retailer is trying to protect themselves these days, but right now the process feels more like luck than good, strategic best practices. I'm hoping this effort will be a big leap toward offering all specialty retailers the juicy information and actionable insights to make a huge difference! It sucks that we need best practices for this topic, but here we are ... it's time for us to take this bull by the horns! I'm very excited to help lead the charge," said Hawkins.
Retailers are encouraged to be part of the solution by sharing and participating in the quick survey no later than Friday, May 28.
The results from the survey will be shared in a retail roundtable; "Specialty Bicycle Retailer Security Reports and Measures Survey- Results and Solutions" scheduled for Friday, June 4 at 1 p.m. EST. The live event is free for all bicycle retailers.
