BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — After being shuttered for most of the summer, Boulder's Pro Peloton is open for business again.
Brandon Dwight, owner of two Boulder Cycle Sport stores, has purchased Pro Peloton, which opened in 1998 as a high-end bike studio focusing on professional fitting and custom builds.
Previous owner Shawn Rucks had purchased Pro Peloton in August 2013, but closed its doors in May.
Dwight, who opened the first full-service Boulder Cycle Sport store in 2005 and a second location in 2010, said he planned to carry on the Pro Peloton tradition of catering to the high-end market and providing custom builds. Dwight will also keep the Pro Peloton name.
"I want to keep the store as the same general model," said Dwight. "The goal when buying Pro Peloton wasn't to create a higher-end version of BCS, but to keep it a standalone store. It's a well-respected store in the Boulder community, and I know people were bummed to hear it had closed. We will continue Pro Peloton's legacy moving forward."
Boulder Cycle Sport stores employ around 25 people. Dwight said he plans to move an experienced bike fitter and a strong mechanic to Pro Peloton from his other Boulder Cycle Sport stores.
"The shop will rely on a support staff from BCS, which includes a human resources person, a buyer and a bookkeeper," he said. "The ability to use our strong team to help run Pro Peloton should be really beneficial to the store."
Pro Peloton will carry bikes from Mosaic, Seven, Colnago, BMC, Argonaut and Open. After a small-scale refresh of the 1,500 square-foot store's interior, which included new paint and flooring, Dwight planned a soft opening for Tuesday.
