BROOKLYN, NY (BRAIN) Friday March 30 2012 2:42 PM MT— Online donations are being sought to help cover living expenses for 718 Cyclery mechanic Krys Blakemore, who was hit by a car while riding her bike March 15.
Joe Nocella, 718 Cyclery owner, launched the fundraising drive March 26 on GoFundMe.com to raise $10,000 to help cover living expenses while she's out of work having surgery and rehabilitation for the extensive knee damage, including a broken bone, that Blakemore suffered in the accident.
As of Friday afternoon, more than half the goal had been reached. Donors have included several industry suppliers, Nocella noted.
Blakemore was 718 Cyclery’s first employee and has been with the Brooklyn shop since it opened in late 2010. She was due to come home from the hospital Friday afternoon, Nocella said.
