WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — GT Bicycles is recalling about 3,364 GT LaBomba bicycles in the U.S. and Canada because the frames can fail.
GT is working with the CPSC to recall about 3,040 bikes in the U.S. and with Canadian authorities to recall about 324 bikes sold there.
According to the CPSC, the frame's weld at the headtube/downtube juncture can fail.
Consumers are told to contact GT at 800-843-2453 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET and Monday through Friday, email at ridersupport@gtbicycles.com or online at gtbicycles.com/pages/recalls-safety for more information.
This recall involves GT model years 2019 through 2023 LaBomba 24-inch bicycles, LaBomba 26-inch bicycles, LaBomba Pro bicycles, LaBomba Rigid bicycles, and LaBomba 26-inch framesets. The bicycles and framesets were sold in sea green, green, dusty blue, blue, purple, and red. The model name LaBomba is printed on the toptube and "GT" is printed on the downtube.
GT has received five reports of damage to the weld. No injuries have been reported.
The bikes and frames were sold from October 2018 through September 2023 for between $400 and $1,450.
