Cannondale recalling 'Dave' bikes because of frame failures

Published February 29, 2024

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Cannondale is recalling some "Dave" 26-inch bikes because of reports of frame failures.

The recall affects model-year 2021 through 2023, with about 660 bikes sold in the U.S. and about 113 sold in Canada.

Consumers are told to call Cannondale at 800-245-3872 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or email at ridersupport@cannondale.com or go to www.cannondale.com/en/safety-and-recalls or www.cannondale.com and click on "Recalls & Notices" at the bottom of the page for more information.

The bicycles and framesets were sold in deep teal and stealth gray. "Dave" is printed on the bicycle frame toptube. "Cannondale" is printed on the downtube.

Cannondale has received two reports of damage to the headtube/downtube weld, causing the headtube to separate from the frame. No injuries have been reported. Cannondale is replacing the frames at no cost to the consumer.

The bikes and frames were sold at bicycle stores nationwide and online at Cannondale.com from June 2021 through September 2023 for about $1,300.
