SEYMOUR, Conn. (BRAIN) — Thule Group is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administation and Canadian authorities to recall three models of bike carriers.
According a NHTSA document, the recall involves the Thule Camber 2 bike, 905800; Thule Camber 4 bike, 905600; and Thule Range 4 bike, 905700 carriers within an affected manufacturing date code range.
"We have determined that when the bike carrier is in use a weld on the arm assembly can crack and fail," Thule said in a press release. "There is a risk that bike carrier arm assembly may become detached from the bike carrier if the safety strap or locking cable is not used. This could cause a vehicle crash or injure nearby pedestrians."
Consumers are told to immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Thule Group to arrange for the return of the bike carrier assembly and register for a refund or a replacement bike mast assembly, free of charge.
Affected Thule Camber 2 bike, Thule Camber 4 bike and Thule Range 4 bike carriers are only models that have been manufactured between the following date codes:
- Thule Range (905700) – Date code 05/02/22 through 07/26/22
- Thule Camber 2 Bike (905800) – Date code 04/14/22 through 06/23/22
- Thule Camber 4 bike (905600) – Date code 03/31/22 through 06/23/22
The only products affected:
- Thule Camber 2 bike: 905800
- Thule Camber 4 bike: 905600
- Thule Range 4 bike: 905700
Customers can visit the Thule Group website at www.thule.com/rangecamber22recall to arrange for a return of their existing bike arm assembly and to register for a replacement bike mast assembly. They can also contact Thule Group's customer service department at (888) 290-1266.
A stop-sale letter was sent to dealers on Oct. 7. NHTSA documents show that 4,759 products were affected in the U.S. and Canadian documents show 909 of the products were sold there.
