SALT LAKE CITY (BRAIN) — Scott USA is recalling several models of road and cyclocross bikes, along with some framesets, that were spec'd with its house-brand Syncros seatposts because the posts can break. The company has received 11 reports of broken seatposts outside of the U.S. No injuries have been reported.
MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Pacific Cycle is recalling 129,000 Schwinn-branded infant bike helmets, sold at Target between January, 2014 and last month.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Tern is expanding its recall of some folding bikes. The recall, first announced in May 2013 covering about 175 bikes, has now been expanded to cover an additional 220 bikes, which were sold as recently as this month. The affected frames can break at the hinge on the toptube.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (BRAIN) — Box Components is recalling some BMX forks that were sold in the aftermarket last year and included on some 2016 model year bikes. The forks' steerer tubes can become loose in the fork.
The company has not received any reports of injuries as a result of the defect.
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (BRAIN) — Specialized Bicycle Components is recalling its Flux and Stix headlights and taillights due to potentially overheating, posing fire and burn hazards.
Models affected include:
SEATTLE (BRAIN) — RacerMate is recalling about 25,000 stationary trainer flywheels, used on ComputTrainers the company sold before 2008.
CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM is recalling nearly 57,000 Zipp front hubs sold in the U.S. and Canada because a flange can fail. Separately, the company is recalling about 6,400 quick release levers because they can fail to engage in the closed position.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — About 29,000 Chillafish childrens balance bikes are being recalled because overinflated tires can cause the wheel rims to crack and send pieces of the plastic rim flying.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — QBP is recalling about 1,000 Stolen BMX bikes because the front wheel can detach due to improperly fitting retention washers. Because of the improper washers, the bikes do not meet federal bicycle standards.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — J&B Importers is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 1,600 Origin8 folding bikes because welds on the bikes' frames can break.
CARLSBAD, Calif. (BRAIN) — Focus is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision and Health Canada to recall about 510 road bikes because the carbon fiber steerer can fail.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Felt Bicycles is recalling 645 mountain bikes that came equipped with carbon fiber seatposts. The posts can crack and break, posing an injury risk. The company has received reports of 10 posts that cracked but no injury reports.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — QBP is recalling some BMX cranksets and complete bikes that were spec’d with the cranksets because the crank spindles can break.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Burley Design is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision and Canadian authorities to voluntarily recall some bike child trailers where the tow bar can separate from its receiver on the trailer.
BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Thirteen companies representing 17 bike brands are part of a joint voluntary recall of certain bikes equipped with front-wheel quick releases and disc brakes.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Wishbone Design Studio is recalling about 400 balance bikes in the U.S. because the handlebar can pinch fingers at the frame. The firm company reports of four incidents, including two injuries. One required stitches and one required restorative surgery.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Cycling Sports Group is recalling certain Cannondale mountain bikes spec’d with OPI stem and steering tube assemblies.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Huffy is recalling about 460 bikes because the front quick release skewer, when open, can come in contact with the front disc brake rotor, causing an accident.
WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle is recalling about 330 model year 2015 Trek 9.8 Superfly FS, SL, X1 and XT mountain bikes because the carbon fiber seatpost can crack and break. The company has received two reports of the seatposts cracking; neither resulted in injury.
