DENVER (BRAIN) — Domahidy Designs announced its third bike model Monday, a carbon road bike with the simple moniker of "Carbon Road Bike."
"Through Domahidy Consulting and with a factory that I have a very close relationship with, I was able to work on this project for a European brand, and negotiated the opportunity to use the molds for Domahidy Designs," said Steve Domahidy.
The model is the first carbon bike in Domahidy's line.
"This bike is the culmination of all I've learned to date, from designing the carbon bikes for Niner and the Factor Vis Vires project," he said.
The new bike features a massive, square profile downtube which mates almost to the full width of the EVO386BB. The design uses asymmetry bottom bracket and rearward to the drop-outs to maximize stiffness. The seat tube flares out to meet the bottom bracket with a left side bias to create clearance for the front derailleur. In addition, the box section of the chainstays is much beefier on the non-drive side.
"With the triangulation of the bottom bracket, chainstays, and rear axle, the rear end acts very much as one, so increasing the chainstay width on the non-drive side still acts to increase rear end stiffness and transfer power to the rear wheel. The driveside is constrained with front derailleur, chainring clearance, and tire clearance, so the asymmetry comes from the non-drive side," said Domahidy. To increase vertical compliance and ride comfort, it has small diameter seatstays and a 27.2 seatpost. Lastly, the bike features integrated and modular internal cable routing ports, compatible and swappable for Shimano Di2 or standard mechanical drivetrains.
Domahidy also announced Monday that the company is sponsoring a Denver race team: Groove Subaru.
Team members will be onboard their custom rigs very soon, and pre-orders for production models are available now, with delivery at the beginning of June. Quantities will be limited. Retail price for the frame kit (frame, fork, seat collar, headset and expansion plug) is $1,699 and comes in two colors: Gloss Carbon/Sky Blue or Matt Carbon/Grey.
