MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — A recent CycleOps contest resulted in more than 50 new routes being added to the brand's Virtual Training database.
The contest challenged consumers to create a route on the system, which recreates outdoor rides on the company's stationary trainers. CycleOps employees chose a user identified as "Rick of the USA" as the winner for his 20-mile route in Baltimore County, Maryland. The route's page in the Virtual Training software includes video shot with a drone. For his efforts Rick won a Trek Travel trip for two to either the California wine country or the Alps.
"Thanks to this contest, we have 1,600 new kilometers in routes and over 25,00 meters of climbing.," said Justin Henkel, CycleOps' product manager. "With routes like USA Pro Cycling Time Trial, mountain bike trails in Denmark and sections of the 2014 Le Tour de France, we know that cyclists will have great options to help take the boredom out of indoor training."
CycleOps plans to run a similar contest next year.
