SANTA CRUZ, CA (BRAIN)—Giro recently announced an exclusive partnership with Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens.
Zeiss, producer of the world's finest eyeglass and sunglass lenses and precision optics for over 100 years, will supply a range of Zeiss Certified lenses as part of its commitment to support Giro’s new line of sport performance sunglasses.
“Zeiss creates the world's finest optical products and has been at the forefront of optical innovation for more than a century. As the leader in optics, their commitment to innovation, performance and purity is unrivaled and a perfect fit for Giro Eyewear” said Giro business unit manager Aaron Brookes. “We are excited to combine their expertise and reputation in optics with our world-class design capabilities and relationships with elite athletes.”
“I am particularly pleased with this exclusive partnership,” said Gaetano Sciuto, general manager of Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens. “Our companies are the perfect synthesis of innovation and style. This combination makes our products unique around the world and enhances the image of both brands among active people and athletes. Success with riders in the Tour de France is an important first step and will mark the beginning of a long collaboration."
Giro’s collection of sport performance sunglasses will debut at the Eurobike tradeshow in Friedrichshaffen, Germany August 30—September 2, and the Interbike tradeshow in Las Vegas from September 26—28.
The collection features four models: a sport shield style called Havik; a half-entrapped sport style called Semi; and two fully-entrapped styles, Instigator and Convert. Prices will range from $89.00-$169.00 depending on style and lens choices, with availability at specialty cycling, snow and outdoor retailers in October 2007.
Every Giro sunglass will feature lenses developed with Giro’s True Sight Technology which emphasizes three key benefits for athletes: distortion-free optics across a full visual field; a full range of lens tint options that block 100% of harmful UV; and advanced lens technologies like Dura Clean, a hydrophobic hard coating process that repels water, oils and debris that can compromise vision. In addition, Zeiss Certified True Sight lenses will be available as an option throughout the collection, giving consumers all of the benefits of True Sight plus the ultimate guarantee of optical purity that only Zeiss can offer.
